Aviation training centre Baltic Aviation Academy (Vilnius, Lithuania) becomes a member of Lithuania – Malaysia Business Council. The foundation was established under the auspices of the Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists to foster a strategic bilateral relationship between Malaysia and Lithuania.

In the near future the visit of Malaysian representatives in Lithuania is planned. Baltic Aviation Academy takes initiative to invite the companies from aviation sector as national airlines and civil aviation administration to participate in this meeting. According to Boeing estimates, from year 2011 to 2030 the world will need 460,000 new pilots along with Asia-Pacific area accounting for 40% of the number. This means that the region will face a need of 9,684 pilots per year, which will make it the main customer in this type of labor market.

‘Baltic Aviation Academy has been actively participating in aviation events and air shows in an attempt to get fully acquainted with the regional issues, specific requirements and market demands. In several emerging markets we have appointed regional managers. The membership in the new project will open up new opportunities – extend the network of contacts, possibilities of cooperation with Malaysian companies and governmental institutions‘, commented Egle Vaitkeviciute, Chief Executive Officer at Baltic Aviation Academy.

This year established business council will engage in business advocacy efforts on behalf of its members at both government to government and private sector level to increase trade and investment between two countries. In the long term LMBC will help to build a new supply chain from the Baltics to ASEAN through Malaysia as a hub for Lithuanian producers in South East Asia.
